Default Newbie here!

I started SBD today and I'm pretty excited for what the future holds for my weight loss.

Have any of you had difficulty with the amount of calories consumed in Phase one?
I calculated all the calories I have eaten today and it is around 1250 calories. I fear that is too low? So if this happened to you during phase 1, what did you add to your daily consumption to increase the amount of calories eaten for that day.

Welcome Lv3Delight!

I don't count anything on SB, so I can't answer your question, but I am wishing you success!

Welcome! Yes, it is exciting entering a new phase of your life and SB is an excellent plan!

That is a little low on calories. You could try adding more lean protein into your day. It will keep you full.

Hi and Welcome!

Yes, that it is a little too low for you at this time. Char is right, you can add more lean protein.

May I ask what exactly you are eating? I can help you with that if I know.

Good menu!!

One thing off the top is that you can feel good about eating whole eggs and not egg substitute. That is good fat in those eggs and it'll raise up your total calories. 2-3 eggs is what you can eat at your current weight.

Try to include some veggies with your brekkie...or tomato juice or V8.

You are completely missing any beans/legumes. We are encouraged to include 2 servings a day, 1/3-1/2 cup is a serving.
I'm not a big bean fan myself so I opt for having split pea soup or red lentils in my soups. And I just love hummus with celery or cucmbers as a good snack...and there is good fat there that will also raise up your calories.

How do you feel eating this way? Are you hungry?

I took your advice. I had chick peas today along with my dinner (which are delicious and I didn't know this until I tried them today). I also had V-8 with my breakfast (which I think v-8 tastes gross).

I've felt pretty full on this diet which is suprising. I do notice I get hungry around 8:30pm, but sometimes I think its because with my old eating habits I would be eating a lot of carb enriched food at that time.

Sounds good to me ....if you don't like the V8, try to have some other fresh veggies or cook some into an omlette.

I don't like the V8 either, but I found a generic veggie juice in my local supermarket that I really like. You might try adding some tobasco into it. Kind of kills the taste a little and adds some zip.

Hi

I think V8 tastes better hot. I bought two cartons of it when I started the SBD and gave it a try and hated it. Then I heated it up in the microwave and had it as a hot *cuppa* soup spiced up a bit with tabasco! I have also made a quickie soup with it by throwing in some kidney beans or chickpeas! I must say it was the only two cartons I ever did buy! I decided that I would only eat the things I like on this diet and maybe thats why I have been able to stick to it. I have never been able to take to the ricotta dessert or totally fat free yogurt either so I have no ricotta dessert and a low fat yogurt!

V-8 has a version called "Spicy Hot" that might interest you all.
I remember when I use to drink V-8 that I would take it out of the fridge and let it sit on the counter top for at least 10 minutes before drinking it. Maybe that was because the flavor would be more full that way and tasted more like tomatoe soup to me, which is one of my favorite soups.

Hmm, I think I'll try it warm tomorrow with my breakfast. I've never tried the ricotta dessert. I like the yogurt with a very small amount of vanilla extract and a packet of sweet n' low. It tastes good to me.

The soup sounds good. I'll definitely give it a try!
