HDL=240
LDL=158
Triglycerides=91
Ratio for HDL=3.8
My blood pressure is always low ie. 100/70...

If in addition to LDL of 158 you have 2 or more risks factors (men 45 years or older, women 55 years or postmenopausal, hypertension, smoking, HDL<35, family history of CAD in first degree relative - male relatives younger than 55, female relatives younger than 65), then, according to AHA guidlines, you should follow a diet and lose weight (if overweight.)

For people without coronary risk factors the goal LDL is below 160.

HDL 148
TRI 114

height 5'9"

Help!
I've been having the hardest time for the past two months. I went to a dermotolgist because my hair has been falling out. And when I went in for my annual check up my cholesterol is high. I don't really know what to do? And trying to understanding the numbers and their definitions for the HDL and LDL.

And all I have been craving is sweet things. I am having a hard time getting back on the low carb and if I should try to help in modifying it to lower my HDL.

Have you had your thyroid checked lately? High Choelsterol and your hair falling out as well could mean subclinical hypothyroidism too.

I'm fighting a cholesterol level of 253 .. but I know my thyroid levels are also slightly off. But I'm going to attack this from both ends, diet and thyroid meds adjustment.

In the U.S.A. our readings are different from Canada and UK etc. Normal triglycerides should be less than 150mg/dl.

Glucose, normal readings are between 60-109 mg/dl

HDL should be greater than 40mg/dl ( and higher than your LDL results )
LDL should be less than 100mg/dl ( and lower than your HDL results ) total cholesterol should be 200 and under.

I just received my cholesterol results and I am shocked.

My HDL was 63 now 52

my total cholesterol dropped from 226 to 217 but I lost 9 of the HDL!!!! What's going on????

My triglycerides were 149 and now are 148. I'm really worried about this...I eat only olive oil and avocados, etc...why is the good HDL's lowering?

I made a mistake....my triglycerides went up from 69 to 86 and my LDL was 149 and now 148
But my risk was 3.6 and now it is 4.2

Hi y'all

I just wanted to say WOOHOO! I just checked my bloodwork I did a few months ago, and I am doing good!

My total chol is 4.59 (it was 7.4 about 7 years ago, 1996 or 1997!)
My HDL is 1.19
My LDL was around 3.3 (don't remember exactly, and I don't know if the two add up to the total...!)
My liver is fine, my triglyc are fine, thanks for asking.

I have never done that before, so I am quite excited about the results!!

Thanks for letting me share.

Mary

Hi. I just wanted to share. I started in May 04 with this woe. I just got my results back.
April 04 Sept 04
Cholesterol 290 190
Trig 1785 771
HDL 24 32
LDL Unable to calc 4

I doubt that the 4 for the LDL is accurate because my specimen is always Lipemic, but overall the numbers are much better. I'm very pleased

First of all choilsetrol is a big myth. IN no way it relates to heart disease. IF it rerlates to heart disease how come I revered heart disaese with High ldl and cholstrol. Read this article http://www.shirleys-wellness-cafe.com/cholesterol.htm and if you still want to believe in the cholstrol myth then get subtypes of your ldl and i bet most of it will come out to be the ldl that is white and fluffly that does not stick to your artrie wall.

Well I didn't see a more appropriate place to post this but let's see if I get any response. I am in my 4th week of Atkins. I did not get my blood tested before I started however, yesterday I had some tests done because I needed my thyroid rechecked.

Heres how it came out

Total Cholesterol 178
HDL 57
LDL 87
Triglycerides 172 (according to my lab it is High-Normal range is 39-149, but according to these posts, Under 200 is good? )

I go to my doc on Tuesday to discuss, I got a copy of these from work, but I'm freaking out about it. I want to make sure I am not doing anything to hurt my body!

Help!!
