Basal is the calories you burn when you do nothing but breath, heart beat - - in other words nothing else but basic body functions.

In a perfect world? Yes. Unfortunately we live in the real world. Sucks, but that's how it is. Those numbers are best guesses from formulas that work for some but not for others. Your best bet is to use those numbers as a guide.

BMR, or basal metabolism, are the calories your body needs every day before you do anything. This is what it takes to keep you alive and functioning if you were bed ridden. This is before you factor in your lifestyle and your activities.

When you first start out on the road to fitness and health chances are your BMR is going to be slower than average. You can subtract approximately 10% of that number to get a rough idea of what YOU burn before YOU get out of bed in the morning. It's a good idea to make sure you eat at least that much in calories every day, so you stay healthy and your body can keep burning fat.

Cool Thanks Nat

I was curious about that too, I started back at the gym and on fit day its like I never eat enough! Could that be why I'm feeling fatigued this week?
