Default Running injury??

I have been running on the treadmill for three weeks now, and have absolutely fallen in love with it. I decided that I would run outside this past Saturday, and ever since then, I have had an ache in my knee.
I did a little research on the internet, and the closest thing that I could find that was wrong with me was runners knee. Is it possible for me to have gotten this by changing where I run because the surface was less absorbant? Any insight would be great! Thanks!!
