Minerals such as calcium, potassium, magnesium, chromium etc, tend to be poorly absorbed from the intestinal tract. They're best absorbed when bound to an amino acid known as a chelate .. such as calcium gluconate, magnesium citrate, chromium polynicotinate. You can usually tell by the "ate" suffix.
Some minerals may be bound to salts, and absorbed that way .. such as potassium chloride.
