Default update, good news and bad

So, I've just been to the doctor. A1C is 4.4. ( I was never diagnosed as pre diabetic or diabetic, but I suspect that's because I hadn't been to a doc in ages.)
My partner (whose A1C was 7.2 in July) is now 5.0 -- he was "undiagnosed" as diabetic.

But the bad news -- I have thyroid cancer. And also another condition (tests still outstanding, not thought to be another cancer, but the is a possibility) -- regardless of what it is, it will also require major surgery.

Not good news. But I think I am holding up okay. It is nice to be on an anonymous forum, where people understand the goods and the bads of regaining one's health. Until the last couple of tests come back I'm sort of in limbo, and don't really want to talk about this with anyone.

Sorry to hear that. It must seem like no good news ever gets to stand on its own! Keep us updated, and I have no doubt maintaining a good LC diet will only help!

That diagnosis is always a shock but as you likely have heard from your doctors, it is the "better" kind to have if there is such a thing. And awful to have another unknown hanging over you too...let us know what happens. I started on this on LC journey six years ago because of the cancer chapter in Gary Taubes GC,BC book. Like Ilikemice, I believe remaining close to a Ketogenic diet will only help you. For me, diet will always be an adjuvant treatment to conventional standard of care, but an important one. All best wishes to you in the coming days.

Thanks. Yes, My doctors are throwing around all the positive words like "completely curable" even though it is metastatic to one lymph node. A friend of mine who had it said "They say that if you're going to get cancer, this is the one to get but "they" probably never had it." Regardless, I'm feeling positive at the moment -- just wish I knew about the other outstanding (and unrelated) issues. Otherwise, I felt better than I have physically in years. And I am not giving up this diet! Thanks for the support.
