Those urine strips test for Nitrites, not nitrates.
Bacteria convert nitrates to nitrites (but humans dont)... so ..
it can be a sign of a UTI, but alone without
- symptoms (dysuria, frequent urination)
- blood in urine
- leukocytes in urine.
it probably means nothing.
Without symptoms, at worst it would be called asymptomatic bacteruria and those don't get treatment.
The vast majority of UTIs are "not hard to diangose"
Note: Not all bacteria do the ates to ites conversion but E Coli, Klebsiella and Proteus do. Most UTIs are E.coli
