Hello everyone, I'm new to low-carb dieting. Have been on my diet for about a week and a half and have lost 6 pounds so far.

I've been keeping carbs low, but not counting exactly. Trying to do the whole high fat, moderate protein and low carb system. I have had no added sugar nor any processed grains since I began and have found it to be extremely easy.

I have increased my intake of healthy fats, such as lard, butter, coconut oil, olive oil and duck fat and have even cut foods I do love such as potatoes and bananas-for now, thought I do intend to reintroduce those after I lose my additional 9 pounds.

I have suffered a bit from ketonic flu, particularly last night, when I felt very nauseous and just fluish for most of the night. Feel great again this morning, however!

Look forward to getting to know some of you! Any advice or support is greatly appreciated!

Welcome. Make yourself at home. Keep up the good work!

You'll find out that many of us long-timers are reluctant to call this a "diet." Diet implies temporary. And we've discovered that unless it becomes a natural, comfortable, and pleasant way of eating for life, those pesky pounds just come right back.

So plan on designing a way of eating you'll want to keep doing. Potatoes and bananas may be a part of it down the road. But those of us with an "allergic" reaction to starchy and sugary foods (we break out in fat! ) know that there are certain things we must learn to enjoy life without.

Best wishes.
