Hi folks,

We have something new and special for 2005. A new software will be installed in the forum, that will offer quite a few tools to track and follow your plan. It will allow tracking of daily food, meals, exercise plus weight and measurements. In addition it will have some tools such as a recipe calculator, body fat tracking, etc. It will also evolve to offer a lot more, based on your input.

For now, we just don't know what to call it.

Two names have crossed my mind: progress-tracker and loser-log

If you have any ideas for a better name (that has not been used, like FitDay or NutriCounter, etc.), please share. If we end up using your name suggestion, you'll get a signed copy of Karen's new book "The Low-Carb Gourmet"

We will soon add a new sub-forum to discuss this tool and offer help with how to use it and organize any bug reports or feature suggestions.

The tool will be available to all members. But for now, we will start with a small group of members as beta-testers, just to make sure it's ready for a large number of our users.

If you're interested in becoming a beta tester, and have the time to fully try it out, and report any problems, please let me know.

I'd love to be a beta tester! All of the tools listed that can be used are things I know I'd use daily... so please scribble my name on the lil paper and add me to the fish bowl.

Hi,
I keep track of all those things, with the help of this and several different websites. It'd be really nice to have it all in one place.

What exactly is a "beta tester"? I have the time and inclination to play with the new program, so if that qualifies me, sign me up, too!

Beta tester basically means you are testing a new software that is in it's "beta phase", which is new, and may have some initial bugs and kinks. Beta testers would use the software, and give feedback, comments and report any bugs found, to help enhance the software.

Give it a try, you now have access:

Everyone will eventually have access to it, after the testign period is complete, hopefully within a week or two,

For now, it's open for a limited set of testers (it's open to contributing members as well, since they a are a limited group as well).

Best way it to start from the search menu, click the check box next the items you want, and then choose to add them to today's food, or to add them to your fasvourites. Once you have a list of favourites, it will be easier, as they will always be listed on every day to choose from.

AHhhhhhhhh! I would have NEVER figured that out on my own. Well, MAYBE, after I had ripped all of my hair out.

Yes, it takes some getting used to. I was having a heck of a time finding apples, raw. Entering just "apple" in the search box resulted in a listing of juices, etc. Ended up having to search through the "fruit" category, and found it on page 6.

But, I like the fact that you can choose "grams" for serving sizes, and also that it keeps track of your favorites, rather than booting them out after awhile, ala FitDay.

More to come......playing, playing...

Default Great Idea!

I'm a newbie, and while I don't have time to "test" the new program since I've got a lot of stuff going on in my life, I'd love to offer up a couple of suggestions for the name.

How 'bout LCDay or LCLife?

I like LCLife because it encompasses all the facets of LC'ing, as well as reinforcing the idea that LC is a way of life.

Anyway, just thought I'd throw my two cents in.
