Unhappy I ate it all.

I am making a low carb birthday cake for my husband that has a cream cheese and whipped cream topping sweetened with erythritol. And there was some left after I iced the cake, less than 1/2 cup but more than 1/4 and I ate it all. I'm so going to regret this later. If that doesn't tell me that I have an addiction to sweet I don't know what does.

I felt like if I confessed I might be less likely to do this in the future.

Thanks for listening.

Yes, you'll learn your lesson, cos if you're like me - erythritol has a great laxative effect

Erythritol by itself doesn't do that to most folks.

My philosophy is that binges happen sometimes. Far, far better it is something low carb than something with real sugar in it.

I'm sorry, but I don't quite understand. Approx. 1/3 cup of cream cheese lightened with whipped cream, sweetened with something with hardly any carbs - is this considered a binge? Or even guilt producing? Now, finishing off the bowl, and leaving 1/3 cup to smear on the cake - that sounds like a bad idea. But not the way the OP described her "lapse". Not to me, anyhow. But then, I don't really know from personal experience what a "binge" is.

It was the way I ate it, I tasted a little from the spatula and then a little more followed by a growl and then an om nom nom sound and then it was gone. lol

Thank you all so much for making me feel better. <3

I sort of agree with both here.

I do agree that it could have been a lot worse and, compared to some of my binges, trust me, that was nothing!

However, I get that the important thing was you felt out of control.
I guess the take away is that overeating never completely goes away. I've done stuff like that while cooking too. Better it be low carb food, though.
