Default PP vs. PPLP ??

HI all,

I am currently doing Atkins, but I have an intense interest in
many low carb plans and have added several low carb
books to my library, including Protein Power. I'm a great
admirer of the Drs. Eades. My question is: I'd like to buy
PPLP, also, and want to know how it differs from PP. Do you
think it is laid out in a better format and/or contains new and
better information? It seems that most of you on this forum
refer to using PPLP. Please advise.

PPLP isn't a revision of PP; it's a different book. Buy them used, cheap, and read both. You can get them used on amazon or ebay.

Thanks to both of you. You answered my question, and
I'm definitely going to get a copy of PPLP. How about
any of the Eades' other books........i.e. their cookbook?

I have their cookbook and 30-day book but rarely use them (I can't eat grains, dairy or soy, so most of their recipes don't work for me), and everything in the 30-day book is explained more thoroughly in PP & PPLP. And I like thorough - knowing WHY & HOW it all works is what keeps me on track.

I regularly refer to both PP and PPLP as well as Slowburn, their exercise book with Fred Hahn.

Thanks Dierdra,

I think I'll pass on their cookbook, then, since I don't eat grains
or soy either so most of their recipes wouldn't work for me.
I appreciate this info. Will check out Slowburn.

What is the full title of PPLP? Sorry if it's a stupid question ..I only have done Atkins since 2004 and am interested in reading other plans. Most of the time I can figure out the abbreviations used here but not this time.

Protein Power LifePlan
The title of the book that came out in 2000.
PP (Protein Power) was in 1995.
I strongly recomend BOTH books because they are written from a different view point. The first is written as a diet book - what the publisher wanted, so that is how they wrote the book. Once it became a best seller, the Drs. Eades could get a publisher to print the book the way they wanted to present the plan - a LIFEPLAN for the best health that the Drs. Eades could find.

Then also the second book builds on the feed back from the first. So it then refines the plan which improves it, I think. And then it shows that the Drs. Eades are not "wed" a specific plan, locked in stone forever. Rather they change and adapt to the research as it comes out - a HUGE point in their favor for me. The bibilography of the second book has half of the over 400 references published after the first book was printed. Both books have about the same number of references, so almost as much work went into the second book as did in the first.
