Default Things I have to learn to live with out

I have after many months, figured out which things cannot be in my house.

1. sourcream/cream cheese dip
2. potatoe chips
3. chocolate of any kind
4. dunkaroos
5. fresh homemade bread

All of these things, except for the dip are bought occasionally for the kids, but I never had problems with them before....but lately I can't keep away from them.......AHHHHHHGGG!!

Having kids or a spouse that can (and wants) to eat that stuff can be really difficut!

If you can't eliminate the foods entirely from the house then I can only suggest that you get really determined and avoid those foods until the cravings pass. Alternatively, substitute those things for other foods they would like but wouldn't be as tempting for you. For example, if they would eat natcho chips instead of potato chips and that is something you can live without then buy those instead! I know that after a few weeks of low-carbing, my need to taste those foods passed and I can happily dole out that stuff to my family without a second thought anymore.

You may also want to consider some strategies for dealing with the cravings...eat some protein instead (or fat), walk out of the room and find something to keep busy with. Promise yourself one bite if you still want it in an hour - then don't look at the clock. Go for a walk, do some exercise...once you've done something good for your body you are less likely to want to eat something that will make you sick or gain weight.

Good luck! And remember, its not your job to make everyone else in the house happy with food! Provide reasonable, healthy alternatives and let them sort things out for themselves!

Lisa
