Exclamation I Want Sugar

Ok, I have confessed. I want something sweet. I am emotionally dependent on that reward during the day. I have been cranky after my evening meals because I FEEL like I desperately need something sweet!! What is up with that???????

Carb addiction? It's hard to break old habits.

Usually, the cravings go away, unless someone waves something sweet under our noses. I've found that if I eat enough real food -- meat, cheese, eggs, fats, vegetables -- then I don't think about sweets. My snack foods were always candy bars.

I also think there's simply a "reward" connection with sweets, as you say. I know a typical late night snack for me on WW -- perfectly legal, if I had the points for it -- was an English muffin with butter and jelly. High carb heaven -- or hell, from an LC point of view. I "deserved" that. It was 2 in the morning and I was still working. I changed that snack to a bran o'crisp (low carb cracker that's edible) with butter and cheese. I've now trained myself to expect that taste and that snack on late nights.

Default have you tried

Sugar Free Jello? Has totally saved me from serious lapses in sanity at various times lately. Tastes sweet, is wiggly, is 20 calories, no carbs, and comes in many fashionable colors!

Alto-

That is great advice and it is so true that we can *train* or condition ourselves to respond different types of rewards. Thanks for all of your kind posts to me, they are GREATLY appreciated!

Sizzle-

The very fact that sugar free jello comes fashionable colors is enough reason for me to try it !

Thanks for the suggestion! I bought some tonight and I am gonna give it a whirl!

Cheers!

Laura

Default jello

Not only that, but you can whip up some heavy cream with some splenda and top the jello with it!

Default sounds delish!

...but how do I "whip up" heavy cream

Seriously, I have SO much to learn about cooking. I lived in NYC through my 20's and that city is "take-out central". Eating out of convenience is a hard habit to break.

Also, is there a specific recipie for the cream/jello snack somewhere?

Thanks!

Hi Lotus,
First you buy some heavy cream, you will find it in the milk section of your supermarket.
Pour milk in bowl and beat with electric mixer or hand beater if your arm is strong enough 'lol' mine isn`t so I use an electric mixer. Beat til very firm, add bout 1 teaspoon vanilla and 2 or 3 pks splenda

Default Jello was my crutch too!!

Hi, I relied on diet jello, and art sweetened whipping cream
unfortunatley for me, i relied on it every single night, and I came to expect it, and if I ran out ( which I said I never would) I would be looking for something sweet.

Latley, I am finding if I need something sweet, I can suck on a diabetic candy(i am not diabetic) or have a cup of tea with art. sweetener. So now I save the jello thing for special occasions only

There are a few trigger foods which I obviously can not touch at all.....just learning which ones are tabu has taken months
