Default Milk and carbs....

So I'm new to PP. Just wondering what the deal is with the amount of carbs in 1% milk. I use about a half a litre in my whey protein shakes, and in the book Eades doesn't really yay or nay milk, but i'm worried about hidden carbs... I'm on the Phase II intervention.

Any experience on this would be awesome!

According to Fitday, 1% milk has 11.66g carbs per cup. Are you saying that you drink about 2 cups of this per day? If so, then you are using up almost half of your daily allotment of carbs (55g for Phase II intervention) from milk. If this is where you want to spend your carbs, keep it up. I personally would rather spend these carbs elsewhere, like on some nice, juicy fruit There is lowcarb milk widely available now, by Hood, that tastes really good and only has 3g carbs per cup and a lot more protein. You might not even be able to taste a difference in your whey shakes!

Why not try half-and-half in your shake instead? Far fewer carbs, and much yummier!

Have you checked out fitday.com yet? You can plug in any food and get an instant readout (and daily totals) of carbs, fat, calories, and protein.

I also like the hood's carb countdown milk, 3 grms of carbs and it comes in skim,1%,2% and whole! The chocolate is excellant too! there is another brand called less carbs, the regular milk is great the chocolate-NOT so great, but personal preference!! Good luck!!!

If you can tolerate soy, you might consider **unsweetened** soy milk. Most brands have far fewer carbs than milk.

I tried that Carb Countdown and I thought it was vile.

Yeah, it's not so good all by itself, but it's fine in things, like shakes, sauces, etc.

This is just what I am looking for. I need Soy Milk twice a day for menopause...I will get the no sugar...although I dread drinking it by itself... I usually have it in oatmeal...
