Default Calories too low?

I absolutely must keep a food journal so that I do not rationalize and end up eating way more than I should. In keeping up with fat, calories, carbs and proteins, I am finding that my calorie count seems way low. I would like to keep my calorie count to at least 1,200, but I usually end up with between 800 and 1100 calories. Is this okay? My fat grams have been between 40 and 60, carbs between 50 and 60, protein around 80.

Thanks!
Clancy

I think that you must have meant to post this in the Protein Power forum?

If this is the case, then a moderator will move it there for you.

Happy Holiday!!

Default No, I am on South Beach

I am not sure why my post said Protein Power. I have never been on that diet. I am doing SBD because it works so well for my dh and it is so much easier for us to be on the same diet. I have been managing a 96 pound weight loss for 4 1/2 years (WW), but have gained 15 in the last year! I signed up a long time ago for the forum, but am confused about the "Protein Power!" and why it was there. How do I change this?

Could someone possibly answer my question. And yes, I know Dr. A. says no counting, etc. BUT he does not know me!

Thanks!
Karen

OK...so now they need to move this back to the South Beach forum!!

I wll share with my that I have not counted calories once yet and I've lost alot of weight. I do use the meal plan chart that you can find in the food list link in my signature. When you follow this chart and use the portion amounts offered there, it all falls into place.

So heres what I'd tell you:
1- start journaling all your food. start a journal here.
2- reread the book
3- print up the food lists and meal plan charts that are in the link in my signature. USE THEM TO GUIDE YOU!!!

After you post your food for a few days, I'll stop by your journal and take a look!!

I agree with Judynyc. But even 1200 sounds pretty low to me! Are you small or have a sedentary lifestyle? I'm 5'8", around 200, and work at a desk. I also put off exercising whenever possible! I shoot for at least 1500/day to loose, closer to 2000 to maintain. But I do keep my fat higher than SBD recomends I think. I would also recomend higher protein, 100g/day or higher, but maybe that's another difference between PP and SBD?
