Default Cold weather and appetite

This is my first winter (Melbourne) low carbing.
It's suddenly got a lot colder and for the last few days I've suddenly craved sugary junk food.
Has this happened to anyone else?
Do you think we really do need to eat more in winter?
Opinions please... Thanks

I think we tend to want comfort food more when it's cold. Try making a roast with veggies, some soup, a lasagna made with zucchini, hot chocolate made from coconut milk, cocoa powder and your choice of sweetener, etc. I find that if I find a LC comfort food to eat, even if it isn't what I'm craving, I can be completely satisfied.

Oh, yes, I find it harder to stay LC in colder weather. Especially without heat in the house. Some people might think that 18C is not cold. But, if it's 18 inside and damp, and you're just wanting to read a book or relax, it feels *cold*.

Other suggestions - substituting daikon radsih or cauliflower fro dishes where you would use potatoes. This winter I'm also planning to increase my fats when I feel like I want something carby.

Yes - I set up a thread last year about this. Quite a few people shared their ideas:

Thanks all - really useful.
I think I will start by recognising I'm going to want more comfort food while it's colder. Rather than being taken by surprise I will prepare low-carb comfort food and have on hand - yummy soups etc. Sounds like a plan to me!

I bought a recipe book of 300 Stew recipes. Sounds like you might need it more than I do!
