Smile Maintainers' Menus

In 2000, when I drew the line in the sand and decided to stop killing myself with carbs, I decided to find out how people live who were not fat, and what they ate. I looked up maintainers' menus, exercise plans, supplements, and lifestyle. I just decided to eat as if I were already at my goal. It was a good choice for me.

In case reading menus of those in maintenance would be of help to someone, I start this thread.

Best thoughts and wishes to all for success and super health.

My food today:

black tea and hwc
sauteed chicken
marinated green beans with potassium salt and roasted sesame seed oil
homemade yoghurt (made from half-&-half, aka hh)

more tea
sauteed salmon
some kind of marinated green veg
perhaps homemade gelatin w/ yoghurt

egg yolks and butter, w/ salt and pepper
green veg.
perhaps some hh

On waking: A 12 oz. glass of cold water.

Breakfast today (I don't always eat breakfast, only when I'm hungry): Two eggs fried in coconut oil, a cup of chicken bone broth, and a cup of decaf Earl Grey tea.

Lunch today: I was out and about with my husband, running errands, and he was in the mood for KFC (not a health nut, my DH). So I had a thigh and a drumstick, breaded skin pulled off, with green beans and cole slaw and several tall glasses of unsweetened iced tea watered down with lots of ice.

Snack: A handful of raw unsalted mixed nuts (walnuts, cashews, macadamias).

Dinner: Tired and lazy after errands, so got a big bowl and filled it with bagged garden salad, canned chicken breast, a couple of "colossal" (super jumbo) pimiento-stuffed olives, and ranch dressing with a glass of Sparkling Ice (Splenda-sweetened, fruit flavored sparkling water).

I will probably have a cup of decaf with almond milk for "dessert" before bed. Definitely a glass or two more of water.

Mmm, Barb, that looks scrumptious.

Food for me today:

Tea and cream
Likely egg yolks and butter w/ potassium salt and pepper
Homemade yoghurt w/ a spoonful of GF rice cereal.

More tea and cream
Chicken or fish w/ marinated vegs.
Yoghurt or some hh.

Probably tuna fish w/ marinated vegs.
Yoghurt, hh, or some hwc.

Also working to increase water intake.

A pile of supplements for the day, as well.

This is a great philosophy, especially if you're prone to the mentality that once you've slimmed down, your problem has been taken care of and you can just eat "normally" again.

I've been posting my food in my journal lately, if anyone wants to see more.

Yesterday's menu:
- brekky: a "real" donut shop breakfast sandwich (on a coconut flour tea biscuit) and coffee
- lunch: chicken breast on lettuce with ranch dressing and parm cheese, garlic mashed cauliflower (with butter and cream cheese)
- afternoon/evening: a few vodka and diet cokes while watching sports
- dinner: beef vegetable soup from the freezer with another coconut flour tea biscuit

I made those tea biscuits last Sunday and wanted to use them up. I guess I could have put them in the freezer. They're a good choice for me because they're good, but not that good. I brought one to work on Monday and it sat there all week.

The chicken breast: I found them on the reduced rack while doing my weekly shopping. I threw them in the instant pot. Now I have two more meals worth of already-cooked chicken for the work week. After the breasts were done, I tossed my freezer bag of frozen bones and scraps in for broth.

I don't think I'll be cooking today because we're having an ice storm and they're predicting power outages. We'll probably just have hot dogs on the clamshell grill.

Tired of eggs for breakfast? Have an avocado. Slice in half, scoop out the pit, sprinkle with lemon juice and/or a dollop or two of sour cream. Eat with a spoon. Enjoy.
