Default Popcorn in Phase 2?

I am in Phase 2 and having bad popcorn cravings! The only starch I am eating is about half a cup of peas every other day, or a sweet potatoe once or twice a week, and thats pretty much it.

Can I start eating popcorn, like a cup a day or something?

What do you guys think?

You/we are allowed to have popcorn but I would not eat it daily. Maybe once a week and as a treat food.

3 cups of popped popcorn is a serving, and it should be air-popped, popped in a healthy oil (i.e., canola) on top of the stove, or microwave popcorn with NO trans fats (Smart Balance makes one, including a lower sodium version).

The best popcorn I have ever eaten is Pop Weaver Butter Light, sold in most Wally Worlds. When I see it on the shelves I *run* in the opposite direction because while some people find wheat addictive, I find popcorn to be something closely akin to heroin. Seriously, it is the most addictive food in the world for me and I can't eat it at all -- I once had a 3 bag a day habit with occasional excursions into 5 or 6 bags. I had cravings for months after I stopped.

I offer up the warning only because I didn't realize I was getting addicted, and would *not* want to see anyone else get derailed by it.

Thanks for sharing that Liz!

Thats exactly why I suggested once a week as a treat...not part of daily food.

thanks guys! I'll only eat some once a week then, its an okay treat though? I mean, its not really bad for me? I dont want to eat something that is the equivalent of chips or something lol.

I will go look for the no trans fat kinds! yum. cant wait. I dont often get popcorn cravings, so I hope I wont get addicted! LOL!

oh- one more question while I have y'all here. Corn??? In the summer my friends and I have corn roasts. Is corn okay to eat once in awhile? I assume YES since popcorn is! but just gotta ask haha.

and i cant find any info on the baby corn and i used to love those in stir fries, better to steer clear of them? or are they okay now and then?

re: popcorn...one of those bags has 3x 3 cup servings in them so please do measure when you eat it.

When summer comes and you have corn roasts, you will surely be able to have an ear of corn....this is what phase II is all about.

We each ned to learn how many servings of starch we can eat erach day and while we are losing the weight. We can have 2-3 serving of starch ( veggies or grain) in phase II...so the days you have an ear of yummy fresh roasted corn, you will count that towards your daily total of starch.

See the food lists again.

Make sense?
