Default Is saturated fat really bad for your health?

In this month's edition of Healthy, one of the UK's top-selling health magazines, they are debating the merits of saturated fat, with some experts arguing that not only is the fat harmless, but that it's essential to our health. A welcome change from the usual bad press that saturated fat receives.

However, currently on their website they have a poll which asks:

In this month's issue of Healthy we look at whether saturated fat is really that bad for your health. We want to know what you think.

At the time of posting, 44% are in favour of saturated fat, with 56% against. Click here, and then scroll down to the poll on the left-hand side if you want to help redress the balance: http://www.healthy-magazine.co.uk/

Of course it is, any fat that's "solid at room temperature" must stop things up

Haven't they seen the fat down the drain demo shown on British TV?

Couldn't get the link to work

Whoops, I accidentally stumbled upon a thread relating to a British publication! I try to avoid those.

So they're giving up asking doctors and now they think the readers know better? Maybe they're onto something!

In this month's issue of Healthy we look at whether saturated fat is really that bad for your health. We want to know what you think:

Answers Votes Percent
1. Recent studies have shown that saturated fat can actually be good for you - its reputation is undeserved. 260 51%

2. Saturated fat is high in calories and cholesterol so can contribute to obesity and heart disease. We shouldn’t be encouraging people to eat more fat with the country’s current obesity problems. 252 49%

I just voted, we are comfortably ahead. But it's just a matter of time before some of the vegetarian activists begin to flood the poll. Wonder if the website has statistics on the voting for and against, by out of country voters.
Certainly, if I was a bread or pasta maker, I'd be encouraging all of my employees to vote against saturated fat. And yes, who hasn't seen congealed fat at room temperature, it's disgusting!
