I've been on and off bc since I was 16.... I'm now 35.
I was initally started on the pill due to irregular bleeding. No period for three months, then bleeding for up to 30 days straight. Needless to say I didn't have any choice in the matter.
I've never attributed any weight gain to my taking the bc pills. I've been skinny, heavy, fat, skinny and all on bc.
I do find that bc pills help me by:
- regulating TOM flow
- lessening cramps
- lessening length of TOM (as I stated, i could go from 7 to 30 days)
I had gone off the pill in the past becuase I had been on it for so long and didn't need it for birth control reasons. I was put back on the pill four years ago after undergoing surgery for a cyst on my ovary and discovering that I have endometriosis.
I can honestly say that my expeireince wtih bc has been positive - it has helped me. Any weight I've put on was a result of what food I put in my mouth... my fault, not the bc.
My Dr did experieiment with a few different doses of pills to find the one that worked for me. You might ask to look at a lower dose pill (As Tater stated).
