Thumbs down Hoodia-Bernstein

As far as I am concerned,a doctor who will try to sell Hoodia from his
website for $40.00 isn't exactly in it for the love.Hoodia is a derived from a
plant somewhere in Africa.Natural??

I didn't think Bernstein sold anything on his website but books and educational stuff. Do you have a link to that $40.00 Hoodia?

Lisa
I should say that Bernstein only reccomends this specific Hoodia and he links to another website for sale but the other website pushes Bernstein's books so ...
Nice to hear from you again.
Bye for now

Eddie,

A correction on that $40 you mentioned for the Hoodia... It's only $39.95

Just something about the name "hoodia" sounds gimmickish, doesn't it?

Well, considering that GNC lists a pure hoodia product that is half the strength (500 mg. vs. 1,000 mg) and 1/3 less product (60 capsules vs. 90) for $36.99, $39.95 for 90 capsules of 1,000 mg. strength doesn't seem too out of line to me. I'm sure a frugal shopper could find it cheaper elsewhere but much of the time I tend to operate under the maxim, "you get what you pay for".
'Course, I'm not likely to run out and buy it just because someone recommends it, either.

I grew up in the town next to where his office resides and trust me, he needs that 40 bucks...sorry...$39.95 to pay the mortgage and property taxes.

Someone posted that an office visit is about $5000-$8000.00. He doesn't accept insurance either.

Nancy said, we "get what we pay for" and I think that is true in many cases and I do make purchases with that belief in mind... But, a Bernstein visit at $5,000 to $8,000.... sounds like there should be a cure for that fee...

He supposedly can treat a carb addiction. Some people might pay five grand just for that.

Me? I never said that. I make the claim that we often don't get what we pay for. High price does not equal quality. I'll have to find that chocolate producer who had the highest price chocolate in the world.... it was such a fraud. High prices are a result of marketing, hype, demand, supply, and the belief that high price equals quality, and so on. If I put a high price on something people think, "Wow, that's expensive it must be good!".

Now, about Hoodia. I think save the $40, I don't think it actually works for many people. Maybe if you slice it off a fresh hoodia plant it'd work, but it seems like most of the people here that tried it didn't really have any success. Otherwise... we'd all be skinny now.

Unhappy An added thought

If we use Bernstein correctly,he can be useful. He makes a lot of
information available at very reasonable prices though,in certain cases,I think
his information is biased and incorrect.I have always had a problem with
doctors reccomending or selling unproven supplements.I also have a problem with charging $5000 to $8000 for a visit.Maybe this large fee is total fee for a day by day program?
And so it goes...

Eddie, he spends an entire day with a patient and runs a lot of tests. Depending on the tests he thinks patients need, it could be more expensive. That's what I've read at least. I don't have any first-hand experience.

Gymnema sylvestre does a pretty good job of that and it doesn't
cost $5000 to $8000.Actually,now that I see what I am writing,I
should qualify my statement about gymnema. It does seem to
suppress the desire for sugar-not all carbs.I still have lust for
french fries.
Bye from HHH
