Unhappy Feeling icky after exercise....

I just went on a 20 minute bike ride. I haven't been riding a lot lately so I went slow and gave myself a 5 min. break. Now, I feel dizzy and like I'm goin' to throw up. Is this a normal side effect of exercising when you haven't done something as strenuous (sp?) as bike riding, is it from the heat or do I just need to eat? I walked 2 miles yesterday without a problem, why do I feel icky today? Any comment is welcome. Thanks!

Is it hot today? Have you been drinking water? and last but not least are you taking any Potassium? The heat will dehydrate you robbing you of electrolytes you need, cheifly potassium and sodium. You should be taking pottasium during Induction and OWL (400 mg a day) - on hot days where you sweat more (especially if you are working out) you may need more.

Post Yes to everything you asked!

Yes to all of the above. It is very hot here today. Around 85 degrees. I've been drinking water since I woke up this morning. I am feeling a little better now that I've eaten but I'm still feeling icky. Anyways, thanks for responding!

If you're taking 400 mg of potassium you might try increasing a little to see if it helps. Keep hydrated when taking potassium, and don't discount that it could be totally unrelated to LC - there are some nasty bugs going around this time of year.

Post I only felt that way after my 1st bike ride....

I just went on a 2nd bike now that I've eaten and I rode for 20 min. straight and I feel fine. I think the ickiness I felt before may have been caused from A.) Not eating before riding in the heat. and/or B.) Pushing myself to do too much too soon. I took my time this past bike ride, made seem more for enjoyment instead of exercise and that seemed to help. Anyways, thanks!
