Default Not a big success story.. but losing weight faster than ever in my life.

I first heard about Atkins/low carb through my brother. He had lost tons of weight in mere months, and controlled his appetite to a degree that I could not yet foresee in my own future. I was addicted. Addicted to carby foods.

Following some of his advice, I started Atkins, After two days, I realized that I was not a veggie eater, and felt too restricted on Induction phase, so I modified it to my own set of rules... as long as I don't go over total20g of bad carbs a day.... that I can pretty much eat whatever I want.

So far it's worked. Here I am.. one week later and lost 11 lbs in a mere one week. I tried Ketone strips today, it came back positive for Ketosis.

The only downside is, eating whatever I want, when I want, how I want.. as long as it meets my total carb restriction... might not be the healthiest lifestyle... but it seems like a quick solution to my massive overweight problem.

I hope this has inspired people to try low carb. The hardest part is giving up bread and ketchup for me.. but when I'm skinny I may switch to a low calorie diet instead,

Dear kansassr,

Well done for your weight-loss success, and getting started.

I am a veggieholic, and can't go a meal without having a "fix", so we are opposite ends of the spectrum.

If your progress is anything like mine, you might find that as your body heals from the effects of the carb overload, you'll find your tastes changing toward food choices which will be healthier for you. it's anyone's guess what these choices will be - everyone seems to need different things. The challenge is finding out what they are.

Best of luck with continuing to lose weight. Keep strong through the holidays!

Kansasrr welcome to the forums. They just reprinted Atkins 1972 version, you can get new copies through Amazon. Check the used book stores they are really cheap if you can find a 72 version. You might want to check it out. Its a lot different from todays versions of Atkins. Induction is one week and almost zero carb, it gives you a little more flexibility in adding things back into your diet and when you do it. Well wishing you the best of luck. If you are still eating high carb stuff for your 20 grams you might run into problems, but again everyone is different so you might not....Bru
