Default HELP I'm having a SEVERE popcorn craving

Hubby suggested going to the movies tonite and now all I can think of is popcorn. I would say that popcorn is my FAVORITE food in the whole wide world. I am trying to justify it by thinking that I will only have protein for supper and the popcorn could be my carbs.

Please somebody knock some sense into me. Or better yet I should just stay home?

Popcorn was/is my vice as well. During the weight loss phase of my WOE I chose to avoid the movie theatres all together. I associate movies with popcorn, and can't have one without the other.. ugh. If you can avoid the popcorn, try pork rinds, sunflower seeds or taking some LC chocolate with you to nibble on. Best of luck!

I thought that a cup of popcorn only had 5 grams of carbs? And there has to be some fiber hidden in there.

Everytime I smell/crave popcorn, I just think about how the little kernal skins get stuck in my gums...the fact that popcorn is more of a pain than a joy helps keep me away!!!

hmmmm, that would be great if one could limit themselves to one or two cups. I on the other hand eat the entire bucket and go up for refills.

Don't let a craving ruin your evening with you husband. Just stash some l/c treats in your purse. As you eat it smell the popcorn and pretend it's popcorn. Its worth a try.

I have to avoid movies right now as well because I can't resist popcorn.

Macadamias would be a great snack to take though

Someone I once knew in Canada used to send me this Act II microwave cheese popcorn that only had 5 carbs in half a bag. They don't sell it here though

A cup of popcorn has only 3 net carbs. Two problems, though:

1. No mere mortal can stop at just 1 cup of popcorn. Even the smallest size they sell at the theater is probably 10 cups or more.

2. Popcorn is relatively high on the glycemic index, which means it'll spike your blood sugar. It's like eating "just a little bit" of rice or real sugar — carb count is not all that matters.

Thanks everybody for your support. I used to be able to demolish a big bag of popcorn at every movie, (good thing we don't go that often).

I think I will pass going to the movies for now as I know the temptation will be too strong. Hopefully I will be able to get over this addiction soon!

I took a little bag of macadamia nuts and a couple pieces of string cheese with me to the movies. I only got part though because the kids decided to have my snack instead of the popcorn
