Default Single Mom Tanisha Washington Lost More than 100 Lbs. with a Low Carb Diet

Another case where low carb is actually given the credit:

At age 21, Tanisha Washington tipped the scales at 276 lbs. But in addition to juggling college and a newborn son, she made a choice to lose the pounds — and still graduated at the top of her class....After trying various programs, Washington found that Atkins was the best system for her.

“At last I was able to understand how the food I was putting in my body affected me,” she says. “The first few weeks were extremely difficult, going from eating a lot of carbs to just a few, but it was really fulfilling.”

With the low-carb, high protein diet, Washington lost 100 lbs. in a year
A lot more information at the article. Note that they still refer to Atkins as a "high protein" diet. But it's still a step in the right direction to actually give a low carb diet it's due.

What I've started to find extraordinary is not that someone can lose a lot of weight eating low carb but that the government and the medical profession are not held in universal disdain for promulgating the obesity generating, diabetes promoting low fat diet for decades. It's time we all started reacting to these stories with "of course", knowing that it is just common sense and good judgment to cut out the high carb foods and reap numerous benefits, weight loss being only one of them.
