I used to own a rebounder and found it beneficial to have around on rainy days when I couldn't work out outdoors. I think if you're experiencing soreness that means it's doing you some good. As Doreen said, you can "invent" different ways to bounce on it and this will add variety to your workouts. I jumped on it two feet at a time, alternated one foot and then the other, and even "ran in place" on the darn thing. As you get more fit you may find it's not enough of a workout, but the workouts you can get on it are nothing to sneeze at, IMHO.
