grindorsey,

For short runs it really shouldn't matter to have carbs. You store plenty of glycogen to get you through. There are some fantastic endurance supplements that can help a lot too.

Runners in the past created lots of myths about the need for carbs during races and we've all pretty much bought into these myths.

I personally have lost about 44 pounds in the last two months on a almost carbless diet and spend most of the time feeling like the energizer bunny (with very rare low energy points for an hour or two). I train on a stationary bike at a level that is equivalent to an extremely slow jog (like running a 11:30 mile). I can do this for an hour and a half at a time and get off and go into work for a full day an hour later.

You might check your thyroid to see if it's hypo. Many people have low thyroid.

I don't know if this makes sense to you but I can eat VLC and do things like spinning and swimming and aquajogging and long walking, but running I need carbs. I experience running very differently than other forms of exercise - even intense exercise.
