Default What to eat before resistance training?

Sorry if this has been asked and answered before. What's the best thing to eat before a weight training workout? I can't do it on an empty stomach as I can't get to the gym before 10 or 11 am. I tried carbs once and they made the workout go much better, but then I'm not burning fat, is that right?

Thanks!

Rose, a small meal of carbs and protein will give you energy to have a great workout - usually timed 45 minutes before you hit the gym. The goal of weight lifting is not to burn fat; it's to destroy your muscle tissue to encourage new growth. The new muscle fibers (or larger muscle fibers) will then burn fat for you later - even when you're sitting in front of the TV

I like a little steel cut oatmeal with protein powder, or cottage cheese as a pre workout meal. Half an apple with natural peanut butter is another fave.

HTH

I like taking a meal replacement about 2 hours before lifting ... then I take 10g glutamine & 10g BCAA's about 30 minutes before (I also do the L-glu and BCAA's after workout)

It's expensive, but it gives me great results.

Rice_boi, stuck or not, I think you look great!

Dan, i'm sure you've answered this a million times before, but what's BCAA? (I'm betting there's Amino Acid in the AA's).

BCAA = Branched Chain Amino Acid ...

Good guess on the AA's. LOL.

They are expensive, but they helped me take my body to another level when I started taking them 2 years ago.
