Alas, this syrup isn't exactly "sugar free". The label states "no added sugar" which simply means there's no added sucrose. Here are the ingredients:

The main ingredient after water is concentrated grape juice, which is loaded with sugar! .. 7g carbs per 45 ml serving (3 Tbsp).

I have yet to find a truly lowcarb maple-style syrup that doesn't taste unpleasantly fake. Even the Walden Farms 0 carb/calorie, for which I've read many rave reviews .. tastes like thickened chemicals (because that's exactly what it is)

Just my opinion, of course ..

I bought shirataki noodles at Safeway. They were in with the fresh asian produce. As for SF maple syrup, can’t help you there as I don’t like Maple…very unCanadian, I know

ED Smith is NOT sugar free...read that label carefully. It is no sugar added which is very different. I look for the walden farms sf pancake syrup on ebay and stock up when I find it available.

thelowcarbgrocery.com carries all sorts of noodles and what i think is a great sugar free maple syrup from a company called joseph's. the site is very good and the customer service is amazing. reasonable shipping too. hope you find what you're looking for.

If you have a Thrifty Foods where you are in BC, they carry shiritaki noodles in the Asian foods aisle, brand name Shirakaku (sp). It's in a very small wet-pack pouch and easy to overlook!

By the way, Thrifty Foods has sold out to Sobey's, so I imagine that Sobey's should carry it as well, especially in areas where there's a sizable Asian population.

For maple syrup, can we still buy Maplene? It's a concentrated maple flavour that you add water and sugar to, to make a very runny maple syrup. No reason you couldn't use Splenda or Sugar Twin to sweeten to taste and maybe a little (VERY little) Xanthan or Guar gum to thicken it a bit.
