Default Carb Count and relative Weight Loss

Hello all, I took this following quote by Agonycat out of a thread started by Nightwind in the newbies forum. I am very curious about this topic, and so thought I'd start a new thread on it (hope that's ok Agonycat? I'm sure some newbies (and not so newbies like me (i'm 4 weeks in) will benefit from some discussion around this.

Quote:
Most people start stalling after the 2 weeks due to them "thinking" they can get by with 10 or less carbs a day. Less carbs is not always better. Less carbs does NOT speed the losing process. It tends to hinder it.

I'm confused by this ??

Atkins book says that the amount of weight lost is directly determined by the number of carbs consumed. The less carbs you eat the more you lose. Is it really the experience of those here that this is not true?

I came out as having a high metobolic resistance, and so the book recommends my keeping my carbs at under 15 in order to lose weight moving onto OWL. Are you saying that I should disregard this and eat more carbs? I found during Induction that I didn't lose weight until I reduced my carb intake to 10-15g. I expect everyone is different.

Am I doing myself harm by following the recommendations in the book?

Cheer and thanks for contributing your experiences on this.
Kim

Yep! I can comfortably have anywhere from 0-30 grams a day with no adverse effect. But, the 0-30 grams has to be from eggs, shellfish and LC vegetables.

Now, if I overeat protein, or just plain overeat, or eat cream or high fat dairy products or artificial sweeteners...bad news! Not only in terms of weight loss, which is my secondary concern, but in my general feeling and state of well being, which is my primary concern.

Kim, I believe you misunderstood my comment. I said it does not effect the speed of loss, not the loss itself.

Some people think that by cutting out all carbs they can lose 10 pounds a week. While some people can go with as few as 10 carbs, most find that they stop losing weight if they consume too few of carbs.

I was merely stating for the mass that less is not always better and they should follow the induction diet, then f they find they are not losing anything adjust. Like you did. Just don't jump in feet first right off the bat on a zero carb diet.
