Default Low Carbing in Calgary?

Hi folks,

I'm just wondering if there are any low carbers here that hail from Calgary? Maybe we could organize a regular meet up?

Also, does anyone know medical professionals sympathetic to law carbing in the Calgary area?

Thanks!

Sorry you haven't had any responses yet. I know there are low-carbers in Alberta although I don't know where most of them are from and a lot of them don't spend a lot of time on the forum. In the meantime, Happy Thanksgiving from the west coast -- I hope you manage a good low carbing meal to celebrate!

Hi!!! I'm in Calgary!!! Well....technically Chestermere. I started my LC journey last February, had great success in the first 3 months, then stalled out terribly. I restarted induction 2 days ago.

Personally, my doctor HATES low-carb...despite my 30 lbs lost and vastly improved blood sugars and triglyceride numbers, not to mention my happiness levels. She says I'm "ruining" my body by not consuming any of the prescribed "healthy whole grains". I ignore her.

My mom sees a naturopath in the area who tested her for "food intolerances". This resulted in discovering that she can't eat wheat at all, as well as oranges, mint, and macadamia nuts. Random and strange list, but avoiding those foods has resulted in some pretty amazing changes to her body. But he's supportive of her going low-carb. She began seeing him to better treat her menopause symptoms. She swears he's changed her life. I'd go see him if I could afford it since they aren't covered by Alberta health care. But if you're interested I can get his info for you.
