Default Opinions Please

I just found this article on IF and its effect on women, and would love your comments.
I am trying it, and doing ok, but after reading this, I'm not so sure IF is a good idea for me...

Sorry, that didn't download properly...I need to take a computer class guys!
The article suggested that what few studies done on women and IF show it causing sleep problems, loss of period, and other non beneficial things.
IF seems to work for men much better with very few or no side affects.
Sorry for the mess up!

Hi Maeve,
I don't need to open the link, Stefani and her view has been around a long time (2012 being long in this world ). She herself has a history of Disordered Eating and many of her clients are dealing with eating disorders, that's her speciality. Fasting is inappropriate for those cases so if you have a history of that also, it may not be the best for you.

But otherwise, my response would echo Dr. Fung's.

Nothing is further from the truth. There are hundreds of studies spanning over 100 years and clinical experience spanning 5000 years that point to the fact that women and men respond more or less equally except in the underweight situation. This is an easy problem. Should anybody who is seriously underweight, fast? Uh, no. You don’t have to be a genius to figure that out yourself. If you are severely underweight and fast, you could become infertile, yes.

I am over 50, super-morbidly obese, and highly insulin resistant (pre-Diabetic).

IF (16-8 regimen) is the only thing that has allowed me to continue eating low-carb without binging, while still cutting calories enough to lose weight. I'm only in my second month of regular IF, but usually by this time I'm way off the wagon and happily ensconced in my regular digs in binge-town.

It is my hope that as I continue with this regimen I will see my fasting blood sugars lower, but I figure that will be one of the last markers to improve in my lifetime-of-busted metabolism.

Wow, am I ever glad to receive the information you posted. I really am excited about the idea of IF, and am on my 3rd day.
So glad I put this out there, because it is sometimes hard to know what to believe...

synger, keep up the good work. Can't wait until I can say I'm in MY second month!
