Actually, I've tended to lose more weight when I was regularly consuming sugar alcohols... I use xylitol, erythritol, and glycerin in varying amounts in things like smoothies, nut bars, mousses etc. I don't believe all sugar alcohols are the same, and the original post seems to be lacking scientific basis- seems to be a flawed analogy.
