Default Measuring Food intake

When preparing your meals do you measure foods by weight (digital scale) or by volume (measuring cups).

I'm in the USA so it depends. With solids, it's by cups. With liquid, I use ounces. When I was in UK I used weight. Are you using a tracker? I've found that the Atkins tracker gives you a couple of options.

I plan to use the Atkins app when I start...I also plan to measure everything I can just to make sure I am not going over allowances.

for me, all solids in question are put on scale. 100g of raw cucumber is 100g - liquids I guess I'd use ml or oz from a measuring cup. Here's a scale y0u from this forum pointed me at. She points good!

I use a scale with a zeroing function so I can measure each ingredient with no measuring cups to clean.

I've actually weighed a cup of liquids I often use (00, MCT, cream, almond milk, etc.) and calculated what it weighs per Tablespoon & entered that into my diet software so that I can put my coffee cup on the scale, zero it, and record the weight of the liquid.

No weighing, no measuring. I'd go nuts if I had to do that to eat.

I believe weighing/measuring foods makes me somewhat less nuts--maybe in a more literal sense than rpavich is talking about here.

I usually weigh everything except for eggs, which I just count, and cream in coffee, there I'll just measure with a spoon.

I weigh everything I eat in grams b/c I can! I measure my almond milk with a standard liquid measuring cup.

I won't eat anything unless I know how much "it" weighs for carb and kcal (calorie) counts. I even take my little food scale to restaurants.

If people think that's weird, that's their issue not mine! But that's what keeps me honest and on track. I won't eat unless I "know" & I've been doing this since July 2013.
