Default Quest-Bars Spike Blood-Sugar Big-Time

Interesting video by Boulder diabetes support group showing how Quest Bars...ya know...the one's that are supposed to be LC friendly...spike blood sugar levels in a big way.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BjvnjO04t4

I had been eating these, thinking they were a 'relatively benign indulgence' but kept having hypoglycemic episodes from them. So in researching how the heck a "low carb bar" could do that to me, I came across this video.

The longer I go, the more I believe in real food as the Gold Standard.

My rule is:

If that food makes me hungry, my body doesn't think it's food!

I like Quest Bars..and use them for my canyon hikes...we sometimes take homemade jerky..or nuts..I tried making protein bars...and couldn't stomach them..a total waste of ingredients...so all you purists...how about some ideas!

I would make things with edible cocoa butter.

It takes a lot of heat for them to melt, and you can do all kinds of tasty treats with them, and you are fueling your body with a good fat.

Perfect for hikes.
