Yesterday made it to 1:20 again, but also learned something. If you are gassy, planks HURT. Didn't do a second one, just whined, instead.

BTW: all of mine are on forearms. Keeping it simple.

You are all AWESOME!

I was really pushed for time today but managed to get in most of my workout:

New Daily Workout:

75 second front plank on forearms and toes
45 second side plank on forearm and toes
10 modified push ups
T-tap organs in place and half frogs
T-Tapp Hoe Downs
30 second downward facing dog
30 second child's pose

Today, I didn't have time for Hoe Downs - hopefully I can do them later today.

Happy Thursday everyone

Hey, happy Thursday you merry Planksters! I'm really enjoying reading up on your progress and different way to plank. I'm gonna have to try one soon and join you. After dusting my Indo Board off yesterday I looked up a video and what do you know, this guy is using it for modified planks! Neat! I thought I'd pass it along to you guys for ideas...

Oh man! That guy makes those Endo Board exercises look...possible! Forget it. I'd split my head falling off in a nanosecond. Mousesmom, BOSU would be a great extra challenge for planks and push-ups.

Back later after I've done my usual torture.

Yesterday a small victory over gravity: 1:25 then the resting and the 40.

Was gasping after the 1:25. Time to regroup on breathing, I think.

Remembering to breathe is one of my ongoing challenges in this and other exercise. Even walking! Congrats on the victory.

Friday:
Front 3 min (surprised myself!) then 2 min
Side/feet 45 seconds--very hard for me!

I did Jari Love's Ripped through the deadlift/upper back segment. Will do arms/shoulders tomorrow.

Today I used the Timer instead of the Stopwatch for those front planks. I wonder if there's a mental advantage one way or another. Also, I shifted around a bit, experimenting with form. Tiny shifts and contractions seem to make quite a difference. I haven't yet tried lifting up a foot. But that's a challenge ahead.

Happy (almost) weekend!

Happy Friday Plankers!

I think I will start looking for a BOSU ball. Also thinking about a skipping rope, just for fun.

I'm not quite ready to incorporate in into planking yet but it's good for other balance exercises.

I like Barb's idea of lifting a foot. I will have to try that.

Today's Workout:

80 second front plank on forearms and toes (NEW HIGH)
45 second side plank on forearm and toes
10 modified push ups
T-tap organs in place and half frogs
T-Tapp Hoe Downs
30 second downward facing dog
30 second child's pose

I'm still walking every day too - at least 10,000 steps.

Definitely not MY idea. If you check out some of the links in posts above, you'll see lots of variations on planks. The guy in the Indo Board video has a few. As for your BOSU, these things are expensive new. But a lot of people liquidate their fitness equipment long before it gets worn out, so check garage sales, etc.

I've tried it both ways... for me once the timer went off I was DONE even if I could've gone a little longer... so for me that was limiting what I could actually do. So it's more mental than physical for me using the timer.

With the stop watch, I replicate what I do the day before time-wise and try to push a little more ~ if not, no biggie at least I matched the last planks I accomplished!

Hope that made sense!

Yes, I think that's the "challenge" part!
