Default Prenatal Vitamin Recommendations

I am going to be TTC later this year. I've started a Walgreens brand prenatal vitamin- it says "No sugar" on it- but I think it might be interfering with my weight loss- does anyone have a prenatal vitamin that doesn't have sugar, or any other prohibited ingredients on Atkins? Have tried to google, but not finding alot of info...

Compare prenatal ingredients. Look for one where the daily dose is two pills. Also separately include 5-7,000 IU of vitamin D3, and magnesium with that.

Rainbow Light's Prenatal One is nice- food-based, vegan, no artificial colors, no sugar, no lactose, etc. etc. I was taking their Women's Daily before getting pregnant and it was the only multivitamin I'd found that didn't make me nauseous- gentle stuff. I bought mine on Amazon.

I didn't/don't bother with a "prenatal." I take TwinLab brand multivitamin capsules, and when I compared to an OTC prenatal at the store, the TwinLab was better overall. I did a little research on how prenatals typically vary from regular multis, and the general consensus is that they simply contain more folic acid, calcium, and iron. Well, since the body can't absorb calcium and iron at the same time (they're absorbed by the same receptors, and calcium will win over iron), and my TwinLab had more folate than the prenatal I compared it to, taking a specific "prenatal" seemed like a waste.

I also take separate additional calcium, iron and vit C, vit D, and algal DHA. Oh, and probiotics (I had a vaginal bacterial infection in my first trimester, so I take 4 probiotics a day to hopefully support healthy internal flora so I don't have to take any medications again during pregnancy).

I think the answer for ANY dietary and supplement scenario is: it depends on your lab results! Many women end up anemic during pregnancy even when eating normally (whatever "normal" is for them) when they had not been anemic prior to pregnancy. I ate meat and cheese almost exclusively in my first trimester, but my lab values were still heading south, so I kept iron supplements as part of my normal daily routine.
