Hi there Ron, welcome to another Aussie!

You've started well, good on you, matey!

Have you checked out the orange bar at the top of the screen? Lots of info there, especially Low Carb Tips. And do think about starting a journal here. It's a great way to keep track of things, and to make new friends while you're at it.

Cheers, mate!

Rosebud

G'day again there Ron,

I've merged your two posts together as it will be too confusing to have two Intro threads going at the same time.

Cheers.

G'day Ron,

First about low carb products - I don't go much on "products" as such. I pretty much stick to meat, fish, vegies, cheese, cream etc.
I use Hellmans mayo and Cardini's Caesar dressing, both of which are available in supermarkets.

I use Splenda occasionally, and even more occasionally (twice in 12 months ) make some almond biscuits using almond meal - again available in supermarkets.

As for your numbers, I think you need to be eating way more fat. It's hard I know, after coming from a low fat menatality, to switch to eating lots of fat, but it's the best way for this WOE.
Most of us aim at 60 to 70% fat - I often go well over 70%.

And the best way to eat more fat is to use plenty of mayo or other dressing on your salads and of course you're frying not grilling I presume? Vegies taste much better when they're generously anointed with butter. I make a yummy cheese sauce for vegies by simmering cream till it's thick, then adding grated cheese.

I don't worry about how much saturated versus unsaturated fat. As I've learned since reading Atkins, Protein Power and other LC works, the only scary fat is trans or hydrogenated fat. Trans fats are found in margarine and commercially baked goods.

HTH!

Rosebud

Thanks so much for your quick response.

I cant seem to stop reading this page. It is so nice to have so much support. I know the weight I have lost is not fat as yet but I am not hungry or craving for any thing either. It is kind of scary.

I have been doing this yo yo thing for so long and I am just about at my wits end.

I cant believe that this could be so simple

Ill hang in for the long haul . Thanks again for your QUICK
RESPONSE.
How much is a normal weight loss for a female of my size do you think? Ta.

Hi Ron,
Good to hear from another Aussie.
I'm very new..like this week.. and still find it hard to get my head around the concept of more fat.
My husband can't believe it. He just sighs and says...another diet..we'll see. This time I hope he will see..a new me.
All the best with your weight loss.

Yogi

It is wonderful to see you so positive. Funny how you learn sometime everyday too. I have been using margarine in everything for the butter, guess I have to switch. I just wanted to tell you it is really nice to see you so excited. As for me, I am on it, but I am still skeptical.

Default Thanks for your replys

Thanks Rosebud for the info . I will endevour to read it this weekend.

I agree with you all re : getting to eat and think that it is ok to eat so differently . I find it a little scary . Also I am not hungry so I have to make sure that I am eating. enough .Then you ask your self how much is too much or not enough.
As you are not counting calories........... The idea of eating more fat is well amazing.

I have been on the Merry go Round for over twenty yearsand Im hoping this is the last time....

Ill keep trying THANKS for your support and QUICK replys . It makes it so much more interesting and painless to Know that support is there.
