Question Help! How to measure

Hi all!
Here in Germany we use different measuring methods for our food, everything is weighed in grams and I'm having a hard time figuring out how much in grams the cup measurements are.

I have a measuring cup, but e.g when you put berries or stuff like that in, there's a lot of "empty room" in between, know what I mean? Do you just somehow subtract this room from the amount or is this empty room already part of the measurement? I hope I can express this right, LOL.

Also, in Germany we only count "digestible" carbs, the fiber comes always extra. Is this the same for TSP or does she count the total carb grams?

I've searched in every book but couldn't find an answer.

So far I've used my German method of weighing and counting the digestible carbs, but if this is not correct I'm already at my target carb count although
I thought I ate too little.

The empty room is part of the measurement, that's why your weighing in grams is more exact. Sometimes a measurement will say loose pack or firmly packed. It affects the amount in the cup. With berries, just put them in the cup then tap the cup on the counter to let them settle. That should give you a good measure.

I think just counting the digestible carbs would be fine.

Hope this helps.
