I only just found there was a second page on this thread !!

I've been following Weston Price since 2003 - I'm a real fan.

It's all very well having a few carbs (although i think I've overdone it sometimes and feel fat and bloated), but where would we have been able to get this amount of carbs from before farming began ?

I've followed the very low carb (high fat & protein) way of eating for that very reason - and I can't exercise much at all due to damage by statins medication. So the SP plan is a bit against my principles really.

I just found almond butter on a UK website last night ! So I've ordered some.

My blood sugar is a bit high this morning - I'll proceed with caution !!

Well I'm sorry to tell you folks, but I've left the SP plan behind ! I didn't last long, did I :-)

Too many carbs for me - not only blood glucose wise but also I felt like a ton of bricks !

I'm going back to my old low carb way of eating, tho increasing the carbs slightly from what I was doing. Then I hope not to binge at weekends quite so much.

I found the SP plan too rigid on things like cheese and varieties of meat etc and as I'm pretty well on the right track re what I eat, including soaking all my nuts, seeds, grains, then it's goodbye folks - nice meeting you.

Oldsquaw me too!! Im back to low carb. only way to keep the bg down and Im not up for eat more carbs and take more meds. Im not afraid to take more meds it just seems pointless. Im already 65 so if low carb will hurt me in 20 yrs well I guess it wont matter!!! LOL
Jane have you read bloodsugar101.com? great site about how to keep good numbers and add carbs to where you can use them right.
Good luck all.

Must admit, the carbs are getting to me too. I still think Schwarbein has it right about being healthy first though. And I still desire to add a sweet potatoe piece once in a while. Once I see the doc about the hormones I will have a better idea of how to best continue on low carbing. Wishing all well and good, slim health!!

knorris47 - no I haven't read it - I'll look it up. I reckon 60 - 70 grams carbs is just a bit too much. So I'm not going back to my VERY low carb - just sticking at around 40-50 instead.

Agree Krystalcat - I too think she's on the right track about getting healthy first, but I reckon I'm at that stage and don't want my bg going any higher.

I'm still going to do as she says - eat a meal balanced with all four components - but just a bit less of the carb !

knorris47 - just read a lot of the bloodsugar101 site and thought it very very helpful indeed - thanks. Especially about it not being my fault !

Doing fine on my 40-50 grams a day and bg well under control.

Thanks knorris47 - I'll go there next.

I could certainly do with catching up with some of my 21 first cousins but I have enough to do keeping up with my health, 27 horses and 100 sheep !

I used to follow SP and lost 53 pounds and felt great. The last couple of years I just can't seem to feel good and stay on it! While I'm sorry you all are having to leave it, it makes me feel good to know I'm not alone!
