Default Trying again, 15 years later

Hello! I haven't been here in 15 years. It's my birthday and I got the annual email and figured I'd take a look. I plan on starting a low carb diet again after my birthday meal. I went low carb for 2 months last fall and lost the 15 lbs I had gained from quitting smoking. I kept it off and now I'd like to try getting below 200 lbs. I've been stuck at 205 for years, besides the non smoking gain.
I tried low carb as a lifestyle 15 years ago, but found it too hard to stick to once I stalled. There are so many new recipes, sugar substitutes, and low carb flours since then though. I hope it works out. If not, I'll just lose what I can and quit when I stall like I did last fall.

Hope you all are well,
Amy

Welcome back! Stick with it, push through. This WOE is not just good for weight loss, but I believe it's good in general. Check out some of the "stall-busters" as well when you do find yourself stalling. Last thing, don't set yourself up for failure already saying I'll quit when I stall. More than likely if you quit, you're gonna go back to your old eating habits and gain the weight back again, make this about a life change, not just a temporary thing. (Have to tell myself this too!)

What he said! Welcome (back) Amy!!
I agree with B, sometimes I drift away from journaling, but I always like to keep up with friends here, it keeps me conscious of what I put in my mouth, and how much. All the best, and here's to moving down the path in the best possible way!!

Welcome back! Amy
Since it has been so long, you might check the Newbie Advice sticky. http://forum.lowcarber.org/forumdisplay.php?f=110 The #1 tip is Know your Plan...best to follow the exact rules of whatever low carb or Keto plan you choose to start, but you haven’t chosen a plan yet. One new website for great free advice is DietDoctor. https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/keto that may help you choose a plan and carb level.
Look around this forum for other new ideas and websites, but even if you choose to follow the Atkins book you have, there is more of an emphasis on using real foods, not commercial LC products and limited sugar substitutes.
All the best,
