Question

I wasn't sure where to post this question so I'll start here. Are any of Karen's recipe allowed to be shared with other boards? The reason I ask is a friend of mine accidently posted a recipe from another board where the lady board owner was selling her own cookbook. My friend thought she had posted all the correct information along with the recipe but because she didn't include a "clickable" link to the owners site, she was publically chastised. One of the posters at that site stated that if she had my friends address she would get even with her for 'stealing' the recipe. It was probably said in a joking way but it scared my friend.
I don't want to step on anyone's toes or cause hard feelings so that is why I'm asking the question!
Thank you!
Carol from Kamloops

Hi Carol,

Here's what I think:

It's much easier to copy a link/URL to the page containing the recipe, than to copy the whole recipe and post it elsewhere.

When a link is posted instead of the recipe, people who like the recipe can check the rest of the recipes and bookmark the original website if they like it. But when posting the recipe, people would have no idea where it came from, and will have have to search/ask and spend time to find where it came from and what else the author has to offer.

The above is not a legal opinion (I have no idea what's the legal way to do it) just a webmaster's view on common courtesy between websites/boards.

I second Wa'il on lnk posting. It brings people to our board and who knows? They may stick around and have some valuable insight to contribute. I'm not stingy about sharing recipes as long as I and lowcarb.ca get credit for it.
