Talking Back low carbing - have a question??

Hi everyone - glad to have found this site. I'm back low carbing again after a carb laden, bloated holiday season and a few years of not watching carbs at all. First I must say that low carbing is personally the best diet for me - it regulates my period (which hasn't ever been regular in 25 years) not to mention gives me energy and melts away pounds. I started up again on 12/30 and believe it or not - lost 4 pounds overnight. That's how much water I was retaining. Anyhow, have a question. When to get the EAS low carb bars that I used to have years ago, now they say 3 grams of "impact carbs". Something new to me!! Before they were just 3 carbs. Now they are like 19 carbs - but only 3 grams of impact carbs. Is it safe to assume 3 carbs then?
Anyone know? Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi and welcome!

There's considerable debate about how the body really metabolizes sugar alcohols, which I believe is in the EAS bars (I could be wrong...) If you check the "truth about low-carb sweeteners" link over in the right column, there's a more detailed explanation. If you had them before and they didn't stall you, you're probably okay to go ahead and have them - but they cause problems for many people. Definitely a 'YMMV' thing.

Good luck making this a permanant way of life!
