Default At last.... a home!

A place for me to rest my not-so-weary-since-I-started-low-carbing-bones. What a great idea. I am not alone! I thought I was but I still didn't give up as I feel so much better. By the way, does anyone know the difference between a turtle and a tortoise?

Default Turtle/tortoise?

Biologically, no, I don't know the difference. Linguistically, however, they both derive from Medieval French 'tortue,' which comes from the Latin 'tortura' (twisted), the past participle of the Latin verb 'torquere', meaning 'to twist.'

Both are related, through a complex line of descent, to the Modern English 'turd.' I kid you not.

See what a university education will do for you?

Tortoise is land-dwelling, turtle is mainly water. So, what we call a box turtle is really a tortoise

Welcome to a great board!

Default water

so let me get this straight-
I am really a Tortoise because I am a land dweller, but by body feels like a turtle because I am sinking in all this water I am drinking everyday!
