Default Cute plus size clothes sources!

I know there is a very long fashion thread in the "best of" section, but I was wondering if people might find it helpful if we had a shorter thread that just listed everyone's favorite places to buy clothes, which seems to be something that we're all going to need to keep doing as we lose weight. Feeling like I look good makes SUCH a difference in my motivation to lose weight, I hope this will help all of you to do the same! If you add stores, pls. include what size they go up to so people know whether they'll work for them.

Mine are probably more obscure than most, but check em out:

www.missphit.com Awesome tops, jackets and dresses altho some of the stuff in their most recent collection is fug, IMO up to 4X- reasonably priced
www.pinupgirlclothing.com Adorable retro inspired dresses, up to 2x and some of their stretchier stuff can go larger than that - they have beautiful and inspiring plus size models
www.svobodastyle.com Great jeans up to size 28 - VERY expensive but incredibly well made - I have pairs that are 4 yrs old that look new while LB jeans barely last 3 mos. - look for them on ebay and they sometimes show up at Nordstrom Rack
www.oldnavy.com Up to plus 30. Tip - if you're an inbetweenie like me, look at both plus and regular - also, if you return at least one plus thing, return everything together and they'll pay for the whole return IME.
www.bodenusa.com Cuter than J. Crew preppy stuff - only up to size 18 tho.
www.kiyonna.com Beautiful dresses and clothes, fairly expensive - up to 5x/32
www.bandlu.com Cute, youthful clothes, reasonably priced - up to 6x in some styles
www.torrid.com More than you'd think if you're an old like me! a lot is not very well made, so go to a store if you can. Sizes vary I think.
www.lucielu.com Haven't ordered from here but their stuff is AWESOME looking - up to 5x
www.fashionoverdose.com Punkish, very young but cool styles - up to 4x
www.madewithlovebyhannah.com Unusual, hand made skirts and shirts, so cute - up to 3x in some styles
www.secretsinlace.com/category/Curvy_Woman Naughty, gorgeous lingerie, up to 44DDD -seem to be lower on stock than usual right now
www.welovecolors.com Great stockings and tights, up to 6ft/375 lbs
Sock Dreams They say up to 1x but I know people who get stuff from there all the time that are up to 4x so look around!
www.cennev.com Classy, well-made "work" type clothes, up to 24
www.evans.co.uk British chain, fab clothes, up to US 28 - often have free shipping to the US sales, and even w/o not as bad as you'd think. Keep in mind UK size are two sizes bigger than ours so UK 32=US 28. They carry the awesome Beth Ditto's fabulous fashion line, although I think this past collection is sold out?
Asos Curve Another UK line, with free shipping both ways to the US, edgy unusual cool stuff up to US 22

Great stores you should visit!
www.thevoluptuousvixen.com (In New Orleans in the French Quarter - best store evah!)
www.leeleesvalise.com (In Brooklyn, worth the trip from NYC - v. expensive but so much fun and they sell by mail order)

OMG Lisa, I have a serious pin up girl problem! Stuff is really well made and so flattering if you buy the stuff for your body type, although I was actually able to pull off one of the wiggle dresses so maybe it all works for everyone! If you are on facebook, like their page - they have frequent sales and people post stuff for sale and pics that give you an idea od how stuff fits. (Also if you plan on buying a bunch of stuff at once, after you order one time you get a 10% discount for life, so just know that.)

I really really want one of their traincases!

Oh, I 've had a little time to really look through now, just great, unusual stuff. I've been stuck in a rut i see. Any suggestions on sizing? Or is that addressed in the other thread you referred to?

LOL, I live to serve! Mama S, I think it's pretty easy to get in a fashion rut when most of the stores you can actually go and try stuff on at seem to carry kind of ugly, shapeless stuff. A lot of plus size clothing manufacturers assume that just making a sample size pattern bigger will result in a good fit, which is obviously not the case. For figuring out fit, I think it's a cimbo of knowing what styles are flattering to your body shape in particular and only getting things in those styles no matter how cute those sure to be unflattering thing might be. I bought the original bbc version of the what not to wear book (Trinny and the other kady whose name I can't remember) and that really helped me to spot what would look good on me. Then, once you've
narrowed it down style-wise, I find most of the smaller companies will really work with you to help you find what size to get (especially considering you are international).

I also look on ebay a lot, as I Don't mind gently used clothes and people often get rid stuff in big lots.

pls excuse the typos, wrote this on a tablet and i'm not so good with it yet!

And for those of you who like pinup girl, also check out www.stopstaringclothing.com/sunshop/ (which carries way more plus than i realized - all styles to 18 and some to 26) and http://www.daddyos.com/retro/retroldy.html which I think is a store that carries both pinupgirl and stop staring? they seem to have a lot of the same styles but you can sometimes find things cheaper there depending on whats on sale and who's doing promotions.

My apologies to your spouses.

..and, I hate to admit it, I've been buying from a really horrible mail order place -- every too long and frumpy -- I say that now that I see what is possible!! Thanks again.

argh, i just typed a massive rant about plus size clothes, my strategy for shopping, where to get good bras etc. and the forum ate it. I don't have time to retype it, but I do want to suggest going for a bra fitting at a bra specialist, whether it be a local place or someplace like brasmyth or intimacy - NEVER VICTORIAS SECRER OR SOME DEPT STORE AT THE MALL! almost everyone, esp. overweight women, wears bras with way too big a band size and way to small a cup size. Having bras that fitmcan make a huge difference inyour life and they are woth every penny! Once you know your real size, you can score great deals on the fancy euro bras at places ike tj maxx (i recently found a $90 Chantelle bra there for $19' despite my hard to find 36DDD size) and the bras at Cacique are actually excellent quality and cheap as well. FWIW, before I was sized I was wearing a 40D - my new bras are tight feeling sometimes, but just putting one on makes it look like I've lost ten pounds. And I've come to like the tight feeling and all the extra support! Btw, the back smoothing bras from cacique are the bomb if you get them i your size - i hope I necer go down to a 34 if it means I can't shop at cacique anymore.

oh look, i wrote a whole long thing even though i said i wouldn't. i'll save my other pkus size rants for some other days so you can all have something to look forward to!

Interesting chello -- I was being fitted for a costume by an Austrian tailor a while back, and he (you must imagine him, a bit flaming)stood in front of me, pushed my breasts up with both hands and looked me right in the eyes, "You Americans, you all wear your bras too low!" Needless to say I was speechless at the time, but I remembered that reading your post, and it made me think, yes, we're all trained by poor fittings to wear ill-fitting bras. Sheesh.

Totally true Mama! Here is the search string I use to find the "good stuff" on eBay -+(chantelle, prima donna, twist, freya, panache, conturelle, fauve, elixir, fantasie, empreinte, panache, simon perele, aubade, marie jo) and then limit it by your size. Keep in mind that US, UK and Euro sizes are all different. For example, US-DDD=UK-E=Euro-F I believe. But go get sized first at a super nice lingerie place - I always buy at least one bra from a fitter so they don't lose any business, and then note the ones I liked but not quite as much and look for those online.

It is so cold here right now I'm all tempted to be looking to buy winter clothes since I've been wearing the same things for a week now - good thing it's going to get much warmer by the weekend!

Chelle--you make me bummed. I can't shop at Cacique anymore since I lost weight. My FAVORITE place for bras.

Now, even though I've been fitted--it's a nightmare finding bras. And Victoria Secret--trash! I refuse to step into a VS for so many reasons.

Anxiously awaiting my order from pin-up girl.
