Default Goulash with veggies

Heres a recipe I make frequantly and enjoy. Don't know what it's called, so I just call it...

Goulash with Veggies

1 pound ground meat, any kind
1/4 cup heavy cream
1 cup shredded chedder cheese
1 cup cooked veggies [I cook mine in the microwave]
Seasoning to taste

Sauté meat in skillet and add cream and cooked veggies, then simmer just long enough to blend flavors, add cheese. Remove from heat, let stand until cheese is melted. Serve, and enjoy! I think it makes about four servings.

Total Food Values [from fitday] for complete recipe, made with broccoli and ground turkey:
Calories: 1232
Fat: 86
Carbs: 14
Fiber: 6
Protein: 100

Thank you for that -- and for your good timing. I was just about to go through cookbooks looking for a one-dish ground beef and vegetables meal!

I'm curious -- have you ever used something besides broccoli? I wonder is summer squash would hold up, or just turn into mush.

Hi alto, Yes I've used other vegetables, like french cut green beans, but summer squash...I think it would turn, but you could try putting it in raw and let it simmer with the meat and cream...might work!

Lately I've increased the veggies to two cups, I'm trying to increase my fiber. I think I like it better with more veggies. Also I like it more with ground turkey then ground beef.

Hey adnil, try adding paprika. That is the key component to traditional hungarian and german goulosh. Also try taking chunks of meat rather than ground meat. Cut the chicken into chunks sautee with a little onion, add a little stock, perhaps a tad of tomato paste, and paprika to taste. Of course you can add whatever else you want too!! Garlic and fresh herbs is a good idea.
