Angry Is anyone else sick of buying big shoes?

I don't know if it's just me but I'm sick of having to buy shoes that are 1 size too big for me. I am a size 6 and have been most of my life, but since I have put my weight on I have to buy a size 7 just to get them over my podgy feet and once I have them on they feel loose and waggle around like big clowns shoes.
I look forward to the day I can buy a pair of shoes for the way they look, not just settle for the pair I can actually get on my feet.

Thumbs up Big Shoes

Take comfort hev. As you lose weight your feet will certainly shrink as well. I was surprised to find that my feet fit much more comfortably into shoes now and of course, soon I'll be able to go back to little heels rather than just flat shoes. I appreciate what you are saying and know that this will get better. Another positive reason to keep on the low carbing track.

Thumbs up

Just want to share that since losing 44 lbs I also lost a shoe size from an 8W to a 7.5 regular width. So it is definitely possible to lose shoe size with significant weight loss.

You shouldn't feel so bad. You know how hard it is to find size 11W shoes in any kind of good styles without paying a ton?

At least your sizes are normal sizes.

Default Foot size increases with age

Maybe with weight, too. Just as soon as Sears started carrying 11s, I started needing 12s. There is some weight correlation--I see it in my hands with rings--but the 12s are definitely a length thing and I just can't convince myself that's going to change with weight loss.

It's a given that our feet will increase in size as we age. At 18 I wore a size 5 1/2. By the time I was 30 I went to a 6 although I weighed little more. I now wear an 8 and it is more because of my age and the fact that I worked on my feet all my life. Even if I lose all the weight that I want my feet will not shrink back down. I for one, don't have fat feet. They have just grown, and grown, and grown.

I don't think there's any hope for me... wide feet are just a part of my genetic makeup. My Father wore a 6E wide size ten. That's nearly as wide as it is long!

Being female I got off a bit better as a women's 10D. For casual shoes and sneakers I've got it easy... I just buy the really prissy looking men's size nine's when they go on clearance. Off the rack, cheap, and generally virtually identical to the womens styles.

Default 10 to 11

I have also gone from a 10 to an 11. I am hoping they go back to a 10 with loss. It is very hard to find a size 11 here. My feet are not fat, but I was wondering if it has to do with you feet spreading out to support extra weight?

Default Think it does

But I don't think they shrink back, necessarily. The parts that stretch stay stretched.

I've had better luck finding shoes at a) nordstroms anywhere, and b) in stores and malls that serve areas with higher populations of African-American women. Best shoe store ever is Chernin's in downtown Chicago.

San Francisco was a bust--the stores are stocked for a higher percentage of Asian women, size "very small feet."

I for one can relate to small pudgy feet. I wear a size 6 but in a wide width and they really don't cater to people with small feet. All the shoes look like something grandma would wear. Go up to a 7 or 8 and variety out the ying yang. I went looking for sandals the past couple of days and went to 5 different places. Today I finally went over to the boys section and got a 4 1/2 and they fit great. Nice and wide and they look surprisingly good on my foot. I have always had fat feet though. I could only wear stride rite, and saddle shoes for wide feet when I was a little girl. No black patent leather buckle shoes for this girl. My mom hated it!!!!
