Wink Info on Sugar Busters wanted please.

Hi everybody,

I and one other person in the school where I work are low carbing...both doing Atkins successfully.

Today another teacher who wants to loose weight was saying that she'd like to try it but that it wasn't so easy for a vegiatarian. She also said that she believed she was addicted to sugar - she's always eating chocolate.

Well, I mentioned suger busters - a plan I know nothing about and promised to get her more information. She thought I was kidding when I said there was a low carb plan that wasn't as severe as Atkins called sugar busters so here we are.

So, if anyone can tell me more about this plan and if it could be followed by a lacto-vegitarian I'd be very grateful.

Best wishes.

Robert

Robert,

It is possible to be lacto-ovo vegetarian and do Sugar Busters. I'll give you the Don'ts: No corn, potatoes, parsnips, turnips, beets, ripe bananas, pineapple, overripe kiwis, raisins, watermelon, some controversy over dates, breads that have sugar added including corn syrup, molasses etc, and breads that are not stone-ground whole grain. White pastas and white rice are also not allowed. However brown rice or whole-wheat pasta are.
Allowed are whole-wheat pastas, tofu, beans, whole-grain breads that have no-sugar added, other fruits that are not on the list, but must be eaten half an hour before a meal or two hours after. Just about all the vegetables are allowed. Tofu is unlimited so a vegetarian could eat as much as they can stand. The one proviso for losing weight is no more than two or three carb sources other than fruits or veggies a day.
There is a Vegetarian forum on this web-site that has a lot of ideas to help, since there are even Atkins dieters who are Vegetarians.
