Default Exercise Tip for the bootie!

Hi all!
I am going to try to post an exercise tip/fact/interesting bit of info each day.... So, here's today's for all those people trying to get a firm fanny (like me!!)

A survey of 36,000 trainers and coaches by the American Council on
Exercise
identified the five best exercises for the gluteal muscles: squats,
lunges,
walking uphill, jogging and stair-climbing.

Default Fanny firming fanatic!

Gee - the only one I'm NOT doing is walking uphill!

I must say though - I hate lower body weight training. I find it uncomfortable for some reason?!? Now ask me to bench press for you and I will happily do it for hours! Thanks for the information - I just love this forum!

Default sore fanny.....

Lisa-
Glad you liked the tips! In my quest for a firm fanny, I decided to move up my heavy set of lunges to 30 lb. dumbbells!
I have a very VERY sore tush today! Glad I only train legs once a week!!!

I was being sympathetic to your soreness.

I too know what it is like to have sore glutes.

I had some knee injuries before and my therapists highly recommend lunges, squats, and walking uphill also. I am quite happy with my lower extremities.

But how do you get rid of the hanging wing-y thing under your shoulder blade made up of fat/skin. Now that the fat part is shrinking but the hangy thingy looks like wings.

Lateral pull downs? pop flys? I have access to the bands and the ball but some tips is greatly appreciated. It's the hardest part to reach...

Thanks in advance (if you turn the wavy smilie around, you will see the hangy thingy under its shoulder blades too)

Default hmmmm

Without seeing it, I would say that to minizmize the "wings" requires additional fat loss. It may also be a case of excess skin, which will eventually shrink on its own ... although that is a slow process.

To firm up the area, exercises you can use to work that section of your back are:

Lat pulldowns
Cable/machine rows
One-arm dumbbell rows
Reverse flyes

Default ....

Just thought that everyone should know that I have had IKEA come in and redecorate the doghouse ... this is in anticpation of future stays so that I may be more comfortable (not saying that I am going there anytime soon ...)

I went with enviromentally sound materials like wood, cotton, seagrass, and bamboo which I feel really pulled the look together and added life to the doghouse.

Default Doghouse huh?

Dan! The doghouse is NOT supposed to be comfortable! Beds of nails, lots of suffering, howling pain!

...otherwise, its just a very small cottage escape in the backyard!

Men! Don't you know how to "guilt" properly?

Lisa...who's dh is NEVER in the doghouse. Nope! Not me. Would I do that?

Default AMEN LISAF!!!

Lisa,
Yes, the doghouse should not be a comfy place.... men get put there for a reason!! Usually it is for saying something that only man would say or for doing something incredibly "manly."

Fortunately in 8 months, Dan has only been there a few times and he only makes short visits (what can I say, I'm a sucker!)

As for his plush IKEA doghouse, I tore that down when I got to his apartment this afternoon and constructed my own. (in the SLIM chance he has to make a return visit!)

The doghouse is now a few pieces of jagged wood, with the roof all torn up so he can be exposed to inclement weather conditions, the bed of nails is the floor and it is very VERY small so his 6'3 frame is going to have to be all squished in!!
Hopefully this will be enough to keep him aware of not wanting to return!!!

If you find its been particularly effective, you may want to consider making the plans available to everyone. Just make sure the remote control can't be reached, otherwise your efforts are wasted.
