Default Uneven Fat Loss, What Exercises Can Help?

Hi all! I hope that this is a correct area for this question, if not feel free to let me know. My routine every day consists of 15m of yoga, 10m of boxing and 10m of jogging. I have noticed that the weight im losing isnt coming of the right side as quick as the left. Should this even out as I get closer to goal or are there different exercises I need to be doing to get a more even loss?

Thanks!

Hi, Amberlina. I have been doing Callanetics for years, and find them to be really good for muscle tone, lovely shape and definition, as well as strength, flexibility, endurance and joy in moving. The exercises can be easily modified to fit one's abilities and schedule. The exercises work at a very deep level. I do them each day.

I don't know if they would appeal to you, but thought I'd post about them, just in case they might.

There are video excerpts at the Callanetics site, and some at youtube, and Sandra Hanna who is a master Callanetics teacher, has some at her site.

Best wishes to you.

Hi, Amberlina. I just noticed this post, and checked to see if you're still active on the forum. Yes!

So here's my take on your question.

No, there's really no way to "target" the location of fat loss, through diet or exercise. If there were, you can bet my thighs would be way thinner!! If you seem to be losing in a lopsided fashion, it may be an imbalance in the underlying muscles. Often fitness gurus refer to the fact that most people have a "weaker" side. I haven't noticed this in myself.

Just be sure you are doing your yoga and boxing in a way that makes equal demands on both sides of your body.

As a postscript, please be aware that exercise is the BEST health habit you can acquire. However, as a recent author says, "you can't outrun your fork." Which is to say, working out longer and harder to "burn more calories" doesn't help. Keep your diet under control, and enjoy whatever exercise you choose.

Hey Amberlina! Congrats on your LOSSES!

Personally, I wouldn't be overly worried about WHERE you're losing it...cause you're losing it, THAT to me is the most important thing!

I agree with Barbara (and I usually always do ) make sure that you're working both sides of your body equally and you should be good to go!

Wishing you continue success on your journey to a healthier YOU!
